New Calibration Assessment Partnership for CALA

The Canadian Association for Laboratory Accreditation (CALA) has signed a partnership agreement with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) for the accreditation of calibration laboratories to ISO/IEC 17025 General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories, with assessments carried out through the NRC’s Calibration Laboratory Assessment Service (CLAS) and accreditation issued by CALA

[Ottawa] – CALA is pleased to announce the launch of its ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation program for calibration laboratories, in collaboration with NRC CLAS.

This new program brings together CALA’s experience and reputation as a recognized accreditation body and the calibration laboratory assessment expertise of NRC CLAS. This initiative provides an additional Canadian accreditation body to support the needs of calibration laboratories, while also promoting excellence in calibration assessment services provided by the NRC. Calibration laboratories will undergo a rigorous assessment by qualified experts, examining their competence, proficiency, and adherence to best practices as outlined by NRC CLAS, leading to accreditation by CALA.

By achieving accreditation through CALA, calibration laboratories demonstrate their commitment to delivering accurate and reliable measurement results, instilling confidence in their clients and stakeholders. Accreditation also facilitates international recognition and acceptance of calibration certificates, fostering global harmonization and trade facilitation.

CALA’s Calibration Accreditation Program, leveraging the CALA – NRC CLAS Calibration Assessment Partnership, aligns with its mission to promote quality and excellence in various fields of testing and calibration. Benefits to calibration laboratories include:

To ensure transparency and maintain public trust, CALA will list the accredited calibration laboratories on their website. This enables organizations and individuals seeking calibration services to identify accredited providers easily.

CALA invites calibration laboratories to join the program and embark on a journey of excellence, accuracy, and industry recognition. Accreditation applications and further information can be obtained by contacting CALA directly at CALA Communications  communications@cala.ca
