Once you have your gap analysis done, you will need to create a plan to address the gaps in your documentation. This may include a plan to update your documents or create new ones. Make sure you assign responsibilities and due dates for all of the activities in the plan.
One of these activities is how to train your staff on the new requirements of the standard. If your staff is already familiar with the current standard, then the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 – What's New or Different course is one way to get everyone up to speed.
If you have staff who do not yet know the standard, the updated Understanding ISO/IEC 17025:2017 course will provide them with more comprehensive training. This two day course covers the full standard and includes details on how it applies to activities in laboratories.
Next, you need to develop a communication plan to ensure that everyone who uses or is affected by changes in any of your documents is aware of the changes and understands how the changes impact their work.
Finally, you need to execute your plan. This includes tracking against the original plan to monitor when execution has gone according to plan, or make modifications when required.
There has been a lot of interest in the two training courses CALA offers on the revised standard. Both the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 – What's New or Different course and the Understanding ISO/IEC 17025:2017 have been selling out quickly. CALA has added more dates to meet the increased demand. Below are the upcoming schedules for both courses.
CALA's ISO/IEC 17025:2017 – What's New or Different course can help you with this gap analysis. This one day course provides you with the following:
● A clause by clause cross reference of the 2017 clauses to the applicable 2005 clauses
● Details on the new clauses in the standard
● Details on changes in wording that may affect whether or not your system complies
● Details on what clauses or requirements have been removed from the standard
